Everything is about money in this world. Regardless on who you are, you need money in this world.
If you have never been overseas on holiday or on business then you won't know what I am talking about here today. But I think that most of you reading this post will understand what I am about to say.
Let's say you are working in your own country and used to everything in there and is earning enough to spend, have a little fun and save at the same time and you are used to the cost of living.
Suddenly you realized that you have saved enough for a holiday. So off you go then to a country who's currency is weaker than your own country. Wow, when you land you find out that hey, things are pretty cheap here. Half the price of what it is back home. Very good. When you spend and buy things, you do the conversion and it's not too bad since it is half price anyway.
But let's say you go on a holiday where the currency in that country is stronger than your own. Ouch, it hurts. Every time you pull out your wallet, figures run through your head instantly, and you find yourself calculating and converting. You also find yourself thinking twice or even more than that before buying anything.
However, in some cases, there are certain things in that country that are cheaper even after conversion and some things that are more expensive period.
Everyone is tight fisted one way or the other. It just depends on where you want to put your money at. Which ranks the highest for you? a grand dinner? or that cute top in the window of the shop?
Would it be fair to say that something is expensive in another country if you haven't even been there? Maybe it is normal for it to cost that way in that country but in your opinion that is expensive. Take rent for example, if you prefer to live outside the city then obviously your rent will be cheaper but you will have to incur traveling expenses. On the other hand, you wouldn't need to incur any traveling expense or a small amount if you live in the city but your rent will be higher. So there is a trade off here, live away from the city and pay less or live in the city and pay more.
People sometimes complain that rent is very expensive in they city. Well, hello, reality check, you are right in the center of the city, where it is the most busiest, where all the shopping malls are and you expect to pay peanuts for it? Of course, you have to be a bit choosy when you choose where you stay as there are some places that are just down right expensive even for those who have lived in the city before. Seldom you will get everything for nothing, but sometimes those opportunities do arise but you would have to pay a bit. Oh well, better to get everything for a little bit more than nothing for nothing.
So actually it all comes to the conclusion that it all depends on the individual, on what they want and on what they choose to do.
The choice is yours.

Studies
It's that time of year again. Assignments are starting to pile and due very soon and after that is the final exam then summer break. At least for the people studying in Australia anyway. That's is normal depending on the course that you are doing. For example, if you are doing a business course you would have more assignments and if you are doing a course like medicine or pharmacy would would have a test every other week.
But even where studies is concerned, there are problems of its own. Some like the idea of completing their course locally, others overseas and some have no choice as twinning comes in as part of the package. Naturally, by doing it locally you can save on a lot of cost especially if the country you are going to has a high exchange rate but since when has studying overseas ever come cheap.
So which is better? Completing your course locally or a full overseas program or a twinning? Some might argue on the basis of cost effectiveness and choose to complete their course locally while others believe that a by going overseas is better as there is exposure and experience involve. So this are the situations, which one are you in? and given a choice which would you choose?
By completing the course locally it may seem easier as you are used to the teaching style and comfortable with it. Plus, you don't need to cook, clean or do laundry.
By studying overseas on the other hand, you will need to adapt and settle into new culture, new teaching styles and new weather. Seems like a good deal studying overseas eh? Getting to see and explore new places, meeting new friends, experiencing new experiences and so many other new things. But there is a trade off, you will need to learn to be independent, do your own cooking, cleaning and laundry. Also, since you are in a new place, the teaching styles will be different and therefore the marking system would also be slightly different. It seems that from what I have gathered, students going overseas to study find that their grades fall. Imagine a High Distinction(HD) student going overseas and getting Pass Level 1 (P1). Now that's a huge drop. For those that don't know the order is from highest to lowest is HD, D, C, P1, P2, F1 and F2. A drop 3 grades. This will be very discouraging. They are paying good money to go overseas to study and these are the sort of results that they are getting? Something is not right here, perhaps they are not doing it correctly, or haven't settled down yet. True, but what happens after they have settled down? what will they say next?
So there's the thing to think about. Is it actually worth it to go overseas and study? forking out that amount of cash for the experience and maybe suffer a potential a drop in grades? or do you think that by doing it locally you are able to retain high grades and save cost at the same time.
The choice is yours.
